Sanou Oumar's mandala-like pen on paperboard compositions are accomplished in one sitting after many hours and are so complex that they could be mistaken for digital renderings. As a Burkinabé artist now living in the United States as a refugee, Oumar draws as a self-healing ritual and meditative practice to relieve the trauma of the past. A collection of drawings by @sanououmarwonderfull are currently on view as part of "Drawing in the Continuous Present," an exhibition of nearly a hundred works on paper by thirteen international artists.
