Greetings from… where?! Curiously, one of the most photographed sites along the Blue Ridge Parkway doesn’t only appear on postcards from Virginia. Mabry Mill, a circa 1910 grist mill located near Meadows of Dan, is especially prevalent on vintage postcards from the New England region. There are known examples from Massachusetts, Connecticut, and of course, Vermont. A postcard from Delaware also boasts a picture of the property. It’s no surprise why, according to a portion of an inscription on a National Park Service plaque at the site, which reads: “The mill presents such an appealing, classic image of rural life that it has been claimed by other states.” Truth told, there’s only one—and it’s nestled snugly in Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains.
