"Gilded Frost and Jet Chandelier" by Dale Chihuly, installed above our sixth floor staircase, was recently cleaned to keep it sparkly and shining! Chihuly earned an MFA from the Ceramics Department and helped found RISD’s Glass Department, where he taught until 1983. The chandlier is made up of 196 pieces of glass that corresponded to a spoke on the metal armature. Its spectacular structure includes tentacle-like shapes that extend from its main body of glass spheres.
