Hearing impacts speech, language, learning and social skills so, for children with hearing loss, early detection and intervention can be a game-changer. 🦻   When Elliot was born, his parents noticed the right ear canal appeared slightly smaller than the left, but he eventually passed the newborn hearing screen on his second attempt. After multiple ear infections and one bad enough to rupture the left side, he needed tubes. Tube insertion went well on the left side but, that day, his parents learned he potentially had hearing loss due to the anatomy of the ear. Still, to his parents’ surprise—Elliot's speech began to improve the very next day.  After what seemed like a lull in Elliot's speech development, he was diagnosed with single-sided hearing loss and his family began working with Children’s audiology and ENT teams.
