Fossil fuel giants have known about the environmental impacts and dangers of burning coal, oil and gas for decades. In 2020, the people of Honolulu sued eight Big oil corporations that allegedly hid this information from consumers and investors. Now, in the wake of the Maui wildfires, those same companies are attempting to have the lawsuit dismissed! 😡 Chevron, one of the eight defendants, claims that the vast majority of planet-heating pollution from their fossil fuel products were emitted outside of Hawai’i and they haven’t done enough business in Hawai’i to be “hauled into the state’s courts.” We call bull🤬 Everyone has a right to a green, sustainable and LIVABLE environment.
