Following confirmation of the suspect in Sunday’s shooting being taken into custody, the University community quickly came together to reflect on the events of the past few days and honor the lives of three football players who were fatally shot. Students held an informal vigil Monday evening and members of the athletic community, both within the University and across the nation, expressed solidarity with Virginia and the families of the victims. Mike Hollins, one of two students injured Sunday evening, underwent a second surgery Tuesday morning. Classes are slated to resume Wednesday, with no graded assignments or exams required and no penalties for non-attendance before Thanksgiving break. Virginia athletic teams will also continue with scheduled games, and a decision regarding the football team’s season will be coming soon.
