There was once a time when every team that traveled to Tuscaloosa walked away with a loss. From 2008 to 2022 the Tide lost only 5 home games. Saturday night, Texas walked into Bryant-Denny Stadium and absolutely dominated the Tide coming away with a 34-24 victory. Texas led for over 90% of game time, they put up over 500 yards of offense, and didn’t turn the ball over once. It’s going to take a miracle for Bama to make the CFP now, something that was routine for them just a few years ago. NIL and the transfer portal have brought more parity to college football. And for most of the nation, that’s a great thing, but not for teams like Alabama and Clemson who have single-handedly dominated for so long. Clearly, it’s hard to stay at the top in today’s CFB.
