Risk management isn’t just about looking for threats. It’s also about spotting opportunities. And that starts with redefining risks as “scenarios with uncertain outcomes that could also bring desirable results,” says Carlos Carnelós, Americas delivery IT transformation executive with IBM Technology Lifecycle Services in Brazil. Thinking about risk this way can help “promote a growth mindset and foster a rich discussion to uncover both sides of this coin,” he says. Carnelós also suggests formally engaging a diverse group of stakeholders in risk discussions.
