The Artemis Moon Tree seeds are back on Earth — now what? The Artemis I mission carried the sycamore, loblolly pine, coast redwood, sweetgum, and Douglas-fir species of tree seeds, the same species that Stuart Roosa carried aboard the Apollo 14 mission in 1971. The Apollo Moon Trees have been planted all over the country and many can still be found today. The #Artemis I mission also carried tree seeds aboard the Orion spacecraft in late 2022. These thousands of seeds travelled about 270,000 miles (435,000 km) from Earth, more than 40,000 miles (64,000 km) beyond the far side of the Moon. As @u.s.forestservice teams are growing Artemis Moon Tree seedlings for planting, @NASA’s Moon Trees Quest encourages the observation the Apollo Moon Trees and other trees of the same species.
