Men’s Club Championship at Torresdale
Club Championship season at the Union League closed with a bang at Torresdale. It was the weekend of playoffs as 18 holes (or 36 holes) failed repeatedly to decide a winner.
On a rainy Friday, players vied for a position in the Championship Flight with defending champion Chris Thude. On Saturday morning, 4 matches were played and it was anyone’s game. Tension mounted with every shot. Following close matches and playoffs our final four of Chris Thude, Andrew Jaskel, Luke Liddell and Connor Sharp would square off for a chance to advance to the finals.
Both matches would need extra holes before Connor Sharp and Chris Thude scheduled their rematch from 2022. It was a back and forth battle, but Sharp gained the edge with a few holes to play. Thude answered by rattling off birdies on 15, 16 and 18 in dramatic fashion.
On the 37th hole of the day, Connor Sharp claimed his 3rd Union League Club Championship in just 4 years.
