Daniel Wu and veteran Marvel and DC artist Sean Chen have teamed up to create “Evermind,” a new sci-fi graphic novel poised for TV and film adaptations.
“Evermind” follows a brilliant scientist named Lucas Zhang who risks his humanity and his relationship with his teenage daughter in pursuit of a dangerous technology that allows control of robots with the human mind. The character is reportedly inspired by Wu’s likeness.
Wu and Chen play significant roles in the project. Wu, who wants to expand his creative portfolio, adds depth to Zhang’s character, while Chen, who started with Valiant Comics, illustrates for the first time outside a major comic book publisher.
Chen shared: “I’ve been working for Marvel and DC for so long. Usually for most artists, that means you’re at the top of your game. But there comes a point where you have to go one step beyond, and that’s basically creating your own IP and writing your own story. And that’s scary as hell."
