“I was in sixth grade. I was part of my track team and I started really connected with it. I really felt as though I could do something more with it and I wanted to. So I started trying to compete in track meets. I think, if I had been supported in my youth and the resources were there, I could have gone a lot further with it. I would have loved to become someone competitive. But, you know, it’s neither here nor
there.It’s ok. I think it means so much more to me now that I can do it in this moment in time and how much it’s given back to me.”
