Aug. 28, 2023, is the 68th anniversary of the murder of 14-year-old Emmett Till, who was accused of whistling at a white woman at a grocery store in Mississippi. He was kidnapped, tortured, lynched and dumped in a river. Today, the communities in towns closely connected to Emmett’s story are grappling with the legacy of the lynching. This video was narrated by Audra D.S. Burch, a national enterprise correspondent for The New York Times, in 2019. It is adapted from a 360-degree presentation on the Times website that explores the role physical structures related to the case played in the efforts to memorialize him. #emmetttill
