Many Midwesterners suffer from seasonal depression, but for Nichelle Lund, who hails from Texas, this was a new mental health challenge she learned to navigate after moving to Sioux Falls. The deeper depressive episodes coupled with the trauma of a physical assault she experienced while running left Nichelle feeling alone. After hitting a pothole, Nichelle's rock bottom, intrusive thoughts increased, and she struggled opening up with friends and family about how she was feeling. She sought out support using betterhelp and eventually was referred to a local group focusing on trauma-based healing. This story is part of our #30Days30Stories project for #NationalSuicidePreventionMonth where we share stories of resilience from those struggling with mental health or suicide related challenges. Read Nichelle's story and watch a video of her story at the link in our bio. Keep the power of this story going: If you're moved by Nichelle's story, please share!
