Day 18 – Writing
As a writer, I pay particular attention to language, choosing words with care and intention, or at least I try to.
Using them is my art. Painting pictures and creating images that resonate, connect, and help others feel seen. Storytelling is innate in who I am. It helps me cope, process, move through, reflect. It’s what I do for work. It’s what I do to survive. It’s what I do, to love.
I have written with regularity since middle school. And back then, they were typically poems about boys who didn’t notice me. Thankfully - I’ve moved on from that. 😆
Now, I keep writing that which I experience. That which I struggle. That which I love. I write about the hardest and heaviest of feelings. And the lightest and loveliest of experiences.
Right now, that means I write a lot about cancer. And all it has me pondering. Some have unfollowed me since I started writing about it. What I write isn’t for everyone. And that is not what matters.
