After picking up their caps and gowns today, from their various high schools, they met back up at their elementary school for pictures. Their former Principal who retired during their 4th grade year was also there. After getting a group photo, she turned around and gave them some well wishes, and congratulatory remarks. (I may have cried a little) This school is a STEM school, which kids from all over the district (and beyond) attended. Many went their separate ways for middle and high school, so this was the first time many had seen each other since 6th grade. Loved seeing so many high schools represented and coming back together, if even for a moment. These kids. Their hearts. Man, they’ve been through a lot the last three months. Leaving school on a random Friday in March, not realizing they’d never step foot in their high school again, as a student. Never really having the same kind of closure most of us were afforded.
