Quietly. It’s how I entered 2020. No toast. No large fanfare. No big promises for change. And it was just the way it was meant to be. I didn’t feel it necessary to carry the heavy baggage of expectation into a New Year. Already tired from carrying it, before it began. Gratitude. Grace. Acceptance. Self love. I really just want to love myself for where I am at. For who I am. As I am. And too many expectations to “level up” and do ALL THE THINGS, can detract from loving myself right in this moment, as I am. The end of 2019 was hard. Really hard. The last few months being some that have challenged the way I see myself. Often falling into depression and lacking confidence in my self worth. I don’t say that for sympathy. I say that for transparency. And for others to know they’re not alone. And so with all this striving, and pushing, and setting of new expectations that comes with a new year, I felt overwhelmed.
