I’ve always read this ornament as “Hope”. Today while looking at my tree, I realized it also looks like “Nope”. And initially it made me chuckle, thinking of the many moms who are just so over it. Over doing ALL THE THINGS, trying to make magic happen for ALL OF THE PEOPLE. . Then it made me feel sadness for how many times I, and many I know, have felt “nope” because their hearts hurt a little more this time of year. . There is so much pressure to make magic, feel happy, and be overwhelmed with joy during this season - that we feel the need to fake it til we make it. The magic, happy and joy. . Whether you’re feeling “hope” or “nope” this Christmas, it’s important to remember that either is okay, justifiable and just plain acceptable. Better yet, it’s more than likely you may feel both at the same time. . To the moms I know, especially the single ones, trying to wave wands and create spectacular memories for your families...don’t forget to wave that damn wand for yourself. And gift you...
