It's a funny thing. When we're young, we are excited to grow up and be adults, so no one can tell us what to do. Then we actually do become adults, and we often still find ourselves being told what to do. By social norms. By media. By other adults. Strangers. Friends. Family. But the beautiful thing is, we get to decide whether we listen to them or not. I've lived and learned and been through far too many hardships to allow others to define or dictate how I should live my life. And the weight that is lifted from my shoulders by choosing to follow my own path in life is significant. Choosing to live true to my authentic self is the most beautiful and freeing thing I can do.
