C1C Garrett Greenwood set his sights on serving in the military when he was in kindergarten and in a few months he'll be commissioning into the Space Force.
This week's
#FirstieFriday says he's been surrounded by the Academy throughout his life - growing up in Monument, CO, with a mom who is a grad ('92), a dad who was an AOC and is currently stationed here, and now a sister who joined the Class of 2026 this summer.
"I wanted to carry on the family legacy and give back to the country and military that gave me so much growing up."
One of his fondest memories was last month's Acceptance Day Parade. Not only did he lead his cadet squadron onto the field as CS-09 squadron commander, but he was able to present shoulder boards to many of the new cadets, including his sister.
"Watching them join their new squadron after working hard to learn, mature, overcome, and persevere during Basic Cadet Training made me prouder than ever."
