On this day in history....Captain Lance Sijan, Class of ’65, posthumously becomes the first USAFA graduate to be awarded the Medal of Honor. Then-First Lieutenant Sijan was reported missing in action after he ejected from his disabled F-4C aircraft on November 9, 1967, during a night bombing mission in North Vietnam. He died two months later while in captivity. President Ford presented the award to Capt. Sijan’s parents at a White House ceremony on March 4, 1976.
