Students basked in the spotlight at “Black Voices Uninterrupted,” a talent showcase hosted by the Black Cultural Center on Feb. 10. The event, held in the Mullady Theater, included performances of poetry, song, dance, and a short film. First-year Taylor Shields read aloud her somber, subdued poems while dance troupe AfroDescent — which co-captain Imanii Uwakwe described as a “mini sisterhood” — riled up the crowd. “There’s a lot of different ways Black people can express themselves,” AfroDescent co-captain Taylor Shelby said. “There’s not one way to do it. We are not a monolith.” Story link in bio. #LoyolaPhoenix 📰: Mao Reynolds 📸: Holden Green | The Phoenix
