"It's telling that in the Mass today we don't merely celebrate or worship the Holy Spirit. ... Rather, we invoke the Holy Spirit on us, we invoke the Holy Spirit on our school, and on our world."
That is a portion of the homily delivered by President Fr. David Ciancimino, S.J., who celebrated the Mass of the Holy Spirit Friday morning with our campus community in our historic Scaccia Auditorium.
The Mass of the Holy Spirit is a tradition among Jesuit academic institutions dating to 1548. The community gathers to thank God and to seek the guidance and wisdom of the Holy Spirit in the coming academic year.
Concelebrants of the Mass were Director of Campus Ministry Fr. Chuck Frederico, S.J.; Assistant to the President Fr. Richard Zanoni, S.J.; Fr. Michael Corcoran, S.J. '76 and Assistant to the Principal Fr. Edward Durkin, S.J.
Students participated in the Mass through readings and responses, choral and instrumental music and as candlebearers and crossbearer.
