🔥 Results of rehabilitation to a severe SDFT Injury to a 2 yr old Extravagant Racehorse!! 🔥 A 2 Yr Old Gelding by ‘Extravagant’ sustained a 30% core lesion 15cm in length to the SDFT during a race on 3rd June 2022. The Gelding arrived at Gundy Park for intensive rehabilitation 4 days post race when the first scan was taken. Treatment included but was not limited too: 💥Targeted cryotherapy 3 times a day 💥Cold salt water treadmill daily The "after" image was taken 11 weeks post injury and shows remarkable healing. In the first image you can clearly see a hole in the ligament as outlined, however in the second image we can see the fibre patterns filled in nicely and no longer a hole. There is still a lot of work to be done. The gelding will now begin a ‘loading phase’ in his rehabilitation, consisting of increased time on the water treadmill, trotting on firm surfaces and daily cryotherapy to increase the strength and stability in the ligament and to encourage the fibre to ...
