White socks (non-pigmented skin) are more prone to greasy heel, also known as mud fever. Hind legs also tend to be more commonly affected, however, lesions can appear on all four limbs. Preventative measures are best, which may include looking at the diet or protection from UV light. Its also a good idea to keep a close eye out for early symptoms such as redness or swelling, particularly at the back of the pastern. If there is a bacterial or fungal component, treat by spraying EquineCare Probiotic directly to the affected area. As always, if symptoms persist, we recommend seeing your vet. #mudfevernz #mudfevertips #greasyheel #equinecare #equinecareprobiotic #naturalhorse #dressagenz #eventing #eventinghorse #horsehealthcare #mudfevertips #fungalhorseinfo #horsenz #horseaustralia #horsecare #ponynz #nzhorseandpony #australiahorse #australianhorses #greasyheelmanagement #greasyheel #nzdressage #horsecareaustralia
