On the way to Royal Palm in the @evergladesnps there is a small sign that reads “Nike Missile site” and not much else. Most people drive right by it but it’s worth a stop if you have an hour to kill. The history buffs will be familiar with this site due to its significance in the Cold War. The US stationed anti-air missiles in response to Cuban missile crisis to counter a potential attack from Cuba. Now the sites are used a small museum within the park.
