The entrance to the Mahogany Hammock in the @evergladesnps A hammock in simple terms is a group of trees that have formed in a group in the plains of wetlands. Many birds, lizards and other animals find shelter in these hammocks to make nests and call home. The draw to Mahogany Hammock is the chance to see barred owls. I went twice and was unable to find them (late afternoon and after sunset).
