Dr. Rosevelt Noble wears many hats at Vanderbilt. #HumansofVanderbilt Q: What is your role at Vanderbilt and why did you choose your field? A: I have several roles, Assistant Dean of Residential Colleges, Faculty Head of Stambaugh House, and director of the Bishop Joseph Johnson Black Cultural Center. I’ve been teaching sociology for 18 years and became interested in black history at Vanderbilt, which led to the BCC. The faculty head of house position came from my level of engagement with students and Vanderbilt thought I would be a good fit. Q: As director of the Bishop Joseph Johnson Black Cultural Center, what have been the most rewarding parts of your role? A: Right now one of my most rewarding ones has been developing a cultural congregation, a collective network of faculty, staff, offices, campus partners, alumni, students, and families that play a role in helping our students feel like they belong and have the resources they need to thrive here.
