Rahan Arasteh is excited to get out of his comfort zone while at Vanderbilt. #HumansofVanderbilt #VU2023⁣ ⁣ Q: What made you choose Vanderbilt?⁣ A: I was lucky enough to be accepted through MOSAIC [a multicultural student recruitment program], so I got to spend some time on campus in March. I noticed the people were all involved in academics, but life didn’t revolve around it. They had fun also. Coming from a high school that mostly focused on academics, I really wanted a change of pace from that.⁣ ⁣ Q: Why did you choose the major that you did?⁣ A: I’ve always been interested in politics, but after the 2016 election, I noticed the effects on people around and close to me. I’m originally from Iran, and I felt like a lot of the things I was seeing, could have happened to me 8 years ago. I wouldn’t have the privileges I have.
