First-year student Jessie Cobbinah is loving her first few weeks at Vanderbilt, and she’s excited for more.

Q: Why did you choose Vanderbilt?
A: I chose [Vanderbilt] partially because it’s close to home, and partially because when I toured, it really felt like a school I could see myself at. I like the programs they have, I like the level of community that there is, instead of just going to classes, going to your dorm, and being done for the day. I feel like here, there’s a real, genuine community.
Q: What made you choose your major?
A: Ever since I learned how to hold a pencil, I’ve been writing. I love it, and I love reading as well, so if I could pick one thing to [study], that would be it. I’m also considering education, perhaps, I don’t really know yet. At this point, English is something that I’m sort of set on. I could see myself doing this for the rest of my life.
