Brain tumours are abnormal growths of cells that occur in the brain. They can be classified as either primary tumours, originating in the brain, or secondary tumours, which have spread to the brain from other body parts (metastatic tumours).
Brain tumours can be either cancerous (malignant) or non-cancerous (benign). Malignant brain tumours grow rapidly, invade nearby tissues, and can spread to other parts of the brain or the central nervous system. Benign brain tumours grow more slowly, typically do not invade nearby tissues, and do not spread.
The symptoms of brain tumours can vary depending on their size, location, and growth rate. Common symptoms may include headaches, seizures, changes in vision or hearing, difficulties with balance or coordination, cognitive changes, and personality or behaviour changes.
