Happy World Hand Hygiene Day!
Our hands are one of the main ways germs are transmitted from person to person, and we often touch our faces, eyes, and mouth without realising it, providing an easy entry point for these germs into our bodies.
In healthcare settings, hand hygiene is essential to prevent healthcare-associated infections (HAIs). These are infections that patients can acquire while receiving medical treatment, and they can be severe and sometimes life-threatening.
This is why the Duchess International Hospital is proud of its hand hygiene culture. Our staff has been trained on the importance of hand hygiene, and steps have been put in place to reinforce this by placing handwashing stations and sanitisers at every 10-second walking distance in our facility.
This ensures we can accelerate action to prevent infections and antimicrobial resistance in our facility and build a culture of safety and quality in which hand hygiene improvement is prioritised.
