Next up on our draft prospect watch list is outfielder Gavin Cross out of Virginia Tech!! Nothing completely jumps off the page as far as scouting grades go for Cross, but he did put up some elite numbers in a very respectable ACC this season. He has fairly plus power with a nice hit tool that has seen him be able to hit to all fields on a consistent basis. Cross’s decent speed and quality arm gives him some strengths in the field as well. There is also some versatility with an ability to play multiple outfield positions as well as first base when needed. Put that altogether and a team will be drafting a pretty well-rounded player. We all know that you should not put any stock into MLB comparisons, but I have seen him mentioned as a similar player to Christian Yelich. Not knowing much about these guys, the comps do however give you a feel of the kind of player you are getting.
