#TBT to October 2014 when Filipino Climate Walkers first embarked on a 1,000 kilometer journey from Manila to Tacloban - ground zero of Typhoon Haiyan that pummelled the Philippines’ Visayas region in 2013.⁣ ⁣ Haiyan, locally called Super Typhoon Yolanda, killed more than 6,000 people and left millions displaced or homeless. It's one of the most powerful storms in Earth’s recorded history. ⁣ ⁣ For 40 days, the Climate Walkers braved sun & storm as they visited impacted communities. ⁣ ⁣ Each step they took was purposeful as they gathered stories of strength and courage, and raised our demand for Climate Justice on behalf of vulnerable countries like the Philippines which has contributed the least to the global climate crisis. ⁣ ⁣ And this year, greenpeacesea and Climate Walkers will be embarking on another new journey to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the #Haiyan.
