I have been doing heavy (600-900lbs) box📦 squats for power💥 but there’s nothing like getting under 5️⃣2️⃣5️⃣pounds (55 pound thick squat bar, 10 - 4️⃣5️⃣plates or 5 plates per side, and a 10 pound plate per side) below parallel. Today’s workout focus was pure strength🦍training‼️ Now, everyone keeps asking me about squat depth advice and what is “mandatory depth”. I say as🍑s💩to grass🌿(because some lack the flexibility of it) is not mandatory and for heavy loads it’s not smart for your joints and ligaments - although you can. My squat form recommendation for combat sports athletes is to squat heavy to the 90 degrees knee joint angle 📐, which is to squat to right above parallel. Today, I went deeper than mandatory for athletes, as I hit below parallel and squatted well below the 90 degrees knee joint angle 📐.
