This fuzzy teddy bear of a bee 🐝 is the American bumblebee. This highly adaptable insect once thrived from coast to coast, providing essential pollination service to wild plants and crops across 47 states. But due to threats including habitat loss, widespread pesticide use, climate change and disease, it has disappeared from eight states and declined throughout nearly all of its range.
