For Black children across the country, and especially Black children in New Orleans, genuine opportunity to be a child is stripped away. Orleans Parish School System has reported that 60% of their students have PTSD, and in Louisiana as a whole, our Black youth are six times more likely to be incarcerated than white youth.
Part of being a child is having the opportunity to learn from your mistakes and be granted the ability to learn and move forward.
