This morning, Victoria Police employees, family, friends, and the community gathered in person to honour the sacrifice of police who have died in the line of duty. At this year’s service, and for the first time, a wreath was laid in honour of police who lost their lives serving in forces interstate and in the South West Pacific. Chief Commissioner Shane Patton joined colleagues, families and community at the St Kilda Road memorial. “When a police officer is killed in the line of duty the impact is felt across every force and unites us all. This year we have been deeply saddened by the loss of police in Queensland, Western Australia and Papua New Guinea.” “We will never forget those who have made the ultimate sacrifice serving and protecting the community.” Today, on National Police Remembrance Day and every other day, we thank our police officers, past and present, for their contribution and dedication to our community. #NPRD
