In the 🇳🇬Nigerian igbo tribe we have a tradition called “Omugwo”, which is basically where the mom from the wife’s side will come spend extended time taking care of the baby and the new mom 🥹 This audio was 100% fitting because Lord knows that her help really did make my entrance into motherhood smoother. I honestly want to say that I have looked forward to this for most of my life because I love getting to be apart of tradition that also feels like a rite of passage. My grandma did it for my mom and now my mom has done it for her first grandchild. Hopefully one day I can do it as well 🫶🏽 I would also be COMPLETELY amiss to not thank my village at large for their help and support because they showed out!
