A second chance at life allowed Sado Isak to earn her degree in public health and give back to her community in a big way. ⏪ In March 2020, Sado experienced life-threatening complications from COVID-19. After struggling for four weeks from what she thought was just a bad cold, her body gave out. EMTs rushed to her home, provided lifesaving CPR and took her to the hospital where she later recovered. “It was very scary — I’ve never experienced anything like that," Sado said. "But I saw this as a great sign that I was destined to do something better.” ⏩ Fast forward to January 2023, Sado decided to do an internship with RedCrossWNY. She became involved with supporting youth leadership programs and providing Hands-Only CPR training. Today, she has completed her college education and is continuing to support her community as a mental health counselor.
