“If you can give somebody five more minutes with their loved ones, then it’s worth it.” ⬆️ This is why James has been a committed platelet donor for almost four years. When his late wife Kim sadly passed away in 2019, he began donating platelets every two weeks in her honor. “My wife had metastatic breast cancer,” James said. “It had metastasized to her liver. She became really jaundiced and went in to have some blood work done. Her platelet count was about as low as you can get. They gave her two transfusions that night in the hospital. I keep giving in her honor to try to help somebody else.” For millions in the U.S., platelets are essential to surviving and fighting cancer.
