"I had my wish to go to Walt Disney World granted in 1993 when I was 3 years old. It was a welcome distraction from life undergoing chemo. It was my first chance to leave home and see a whole new world (Disney World!) and escape the hospital environment.
My parents, who were younger at the time than I am now, remember the huge amount of gratitude they felt toward Make-A-Wish, who bent over backwards to make sure we had everything we needed. People who were strangers to us treated us like family. This had an immense impact on us and inspired my parents and myself to volunteer and give back to our community throughout our lives.
