We are celebrating our 40th year of granting life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses across Colorado. In honor of September 11, we’re featuring Cole and his wish to meet the New York City Fire Department. Cole was five years old when he was diagnosed with leukemia and had his wish granted by Make-A-Wish Colorado. Inspired by the bravery of the service men and women of New York City in the wake of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, he wished to meet his heroes: the New York City Fire Department. During his wish, he was sworn in as an honorary firefighter and had the chance to put out a blaze with the whole department! “As a kid, my wish was the most amazing experience I could have asked for,” Cole said.
