Global Journalism students from @fcomunav in Spain explored themes of migration, equity, media, and climate change in a new course called Covering Global Issues in Miami. Visiting many of the iconic neighborhoods in Miami, including Liberty City, Little Havana, Little Haiti, and Coconut Grove, the students also met with community leaders, county government officials, and journalists who all briefed them about their work. ๐Ÿ’ก The class exposes these students, many of whom will be future journalists, to the intricacies of covering global issues in a way that is sensitive to the varying cultures, ethnicities, and communities, said Sallie L Hughes, School of Communication professor and associate dean for Global Initiatives. ๐ŸŒŽ ๐Ÿ“ธ Photos taken by Luis Garcia Conde, Hannah Artman, and Professor Hughes #WeAreSoC #UMiami #UniversidaddeNavarra
