Southern Wesleyan honored Veterans today with a special chapel and luncheon. All the military branches were represented, and Ch. Major Kevin Hovan of the United States Army, SWU alum, was the keynote speaker at lunch. We also had the honor of having World War II Veteran, Mr. E.B. Thomas, US Army, in attendance. Mr. Thomas is an alum of SWU and recipient of the 78-79 Alumnus of the Year award, and served as head of maintenance at SWU for many years. “Veterans are a diverse group of people, represented by men and women of every economic, ethnic and religious background, from every state and territory, but bound by one common commitment, to defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies foreign and domestic with their life if it’s called upon”, said Hovan. SWU is thankful each day for these men and women. Dr. Barker welcomed and expressed thanks and continued appreciation for Veterans and their families stating they are always welcome at Southern Wesleyan University....
