Five protestors were arrested after demonstrators locked themselves to construction equipment to stop work at two Virginia Mountain Valley Pipeline (MVP) sites on October 16. Footage posted to X by Appalachians Against Pipelines shows a group of protestors standing at one of the construction sites on Peters Mountain, holding signs that say “Land Back” and “Respect Existence Or Expect Resistance.” The group told Storyful one protest was held at a site in Elliston to try and stop MVP from drilling under a highway and railroad tracks next to the Roanoke River. The second protest was held on Peters Mountain in the Jefferson National Forest, where they said MVP was cutting and clearing trees.
