Des Moines International Airport will soon start issuing parking tickets if its staff reaches an agreement with the city. dsmairport officials say they expect ticketing by airport staff to help alleviate congestion aggravated by drivers who defy a ban on parking along the curb in front of the terminal while waiting to pick up passengers. Only active loading or unloading is permitted there. The Airport Authority does not currently issue tickets. However, it has a contract with the DesMoinesPolice to help control traffic and safety, and officers can ticket when necessary.
