Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory to lead US quest for element 120
Scientists at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory plan to use the lab’s unique 88-inch cyclotron to discover element 120.
The research team will attempt to form the element by reacting Titanium-50, or Ti-50, and Californium-249, or Cf-249, using their 88-inch cyclotron, according to a statement from director of Berkeley Lab’s nuclear science division Reiner Kruecken.
