Welcome to the 2023 #TCSNYCMarathon, Margot. 🤗🧡 On September 30 in 1973, Margot’s dad, Tom Fleming of Bloomfield, NJ won the New York City Marathon with an event record of 2:21:54. In 2023, Margot Fleming will run the #TCSNYCMarathon to mark the 50th anniversary of her father’s victory. In 2017, Tom Fleming passed away from a heart attack at age 65. In the same year he was inducted into the NYRR Hall of Fame, and Margot accepted the award on his behalf. Margot, who lives in Los Angeles, keeps in touch with her father’s former competitors who remember him as “always competitive, but in a friendly way.” After a successful career of competitive running, Tom coached elite distance runners and later became the varsity cross country and track coach at Montclair Kimberley Academy in New Jersey.
