The Auburn Tigers made the first trip to the Cotton Bowl since 1986 following the 2006 season.⠀
⠀
2006 marked the first season for Auburn to be outfitted by Under Armour, moving on from a long-time relationship with Russell Athletic. When the Tigers were preparing for the Cotton Bowl, rumors began to swirl of the team planning to wear orange pants for the game!⠀
⠀
The rumors swirled so fast that head coach Tommy Tuberville had to comment on them. "I know there are some rumors out there that we're going to wear orange pants and that stuff," Tuberville said. "I don't know how that gets started. We're not going to do that. We're going to wear the same uniforms - all white."⠀
⠀
The white jerseys would feature an odd treatment of the Cotton Bowl patch, placing it on the right chest where the SEC patch had been worn. Auburn hasn't worn a bowl patch in this position since.⠀
⠀
Auburn would defeat Nebraska 17-14 for the Tigers' first victory over the Cornhuskers.⠀
